Details of Innovation Farmers scrape away the top layer of soil to the field's boundaries with the help of the tractor-drawn scrapper. However, the depth of the scrapped layer is not fixed. It depends on the slope and topography of the soil. Collected soil is used to prepare the strong bunds around the field, which help harness the rainwater. People believe that most of the salt is removed from the upper layer of the soil. Farmers follow this practice just before the onset of the monsoon.
