| Details of Innovation | In this method, heaps of groundnut are made after harvesting them (Arachis hypogaea). Here, pit is dug in, which 4 ft long two sticks of bamboo (Bambusa bambos) are placed vertically at an interval of 8feet. Thereafter, one horizontal stick is tied with this two sticks of bamboo and inbetween gunny sack is curtained to look like a theatre. Now, two sides are formed, that is, front side and back side. The crop of groundnut is lambasted on the top and i nbetween the two sticks of bamboo. As a result, pods and remains of plants are clefted separately. This process requires less amount of time as compared to mechanical device. Also leaves can be obtained for fodder purpose. One person can separate 500-800 kg seeds of groundnut from this method. This method has been in use for the last 8 to 10 years. But due to the large production of groundnut crop, innovator has not used this method. It is economical method because sticks of bamboo are easily available. Alternatively, neem or other sticks can also be used. Once Dudabhai had two to three plants of groundnut which he stuck on the bamboo stick and found the pods to be seperated. This is how he came up with the idea. |
