Details of Innovation In coconut (Cocos nucifera), pomegranate (Punica granatum) and guava (Psidium guajava) trees, rhinoceros beetle makes holes in the stems and feeds on their inner parts. To control this problem, jaggery (100 gram) is mixed with 100 millilitre water thoroughly and sprayed on the infested stem at five days intervals. Ants are attracted by the jaggery solution and they attack and kill the rhinoceros beetle. The effect is observed on the third day. This method is being used for the last seven years.
