Details of Innovation | Ganpatbhai from Dang district of Gujarat used to collect and store honey at one time but now he no longer does this. Now, whenever he needs to buy honey, he follows an interesting test to check its purity. He lets fall 2-3 drops of honey on the floor and lights it with a match. If the honey is pure, i.e. extracted from a bee-hive, it will immediately catch fire. However, if it is spurious, i.e., made from sugar, it will not burn. He knows this method since years and tries it as and when required. Any kind of honey can be tested for its purity. A few people from his village know about this but do not put it to test as most of them get honey by extracting it from bee-hives rather than buying it. Ganpatbhai also employs some animal husbandry methods. |
