Details of Innovation	In the stored grains, there is problem of damage and loss due to the pest like "Dhanera" (lesser grain borer -Rhyzopertha dominica) and vatri. Dhanera is blackish brown in colour. It enters into the grains by creating holes, makes the small pieces and makes the endosperm hollow. While the larvae of vatri prepares the bunches of the grains. According to Shri Gelabhai of Kadasar village of taluka Chotila, before storage, the grains should be sun-dried for two days. Then, after, make pieces of dry chilli (Capsicum annuum) and place them along with the stored grains. About one kg chilli is required for 200 kg of grains. By following this practice the grains and seed can be stored for 2 years. According to Dr. Surendra, the dried chilli contains alkaloid capsasim, which has a great odour that repels the insects.
