Details of Innovation According to t various farmers, Blight (Alternaria burnsii) in cumin (Cuminum cyminum) crop occurs due to the excess supply of irrigation. Devsiji Hathiji Thakore of Kathi village in Harij taluka of Gujarat selects the plot which can drain excess water. At the time of sowing, slight more irrigation is given by which germination of seeds are good. After sowing of cumin, in seven to eight days, light irrigation is given and third and final irrigation before the onset of flowering season is given. At this time, flowers of cumin drop off due to the blowing of dry cool breeze of monsoon season but then also dont apply irrigation. Here farmer adds more information about other farmers of his village that who has applied more than three irrigation on their farms, get infested with bight disease. Actually cumin needs less water in monsoon season. In this season if the climate is hazy, then two person with cotton or jute rope walks in the farm of cumin, as this rope absorbs the moisture from the cumin plant. Hence, crop is saved of the blight disease.
