Details of Innovation | (This method was rechecked in March 2004. dharo waste grass is kind of weed which grow even after removal. Because its roots are deeply spread in soil. Once we remove the dharo (waste grass) weed, use feel that it has gone but it grows again. Shri. Weshiji Hafhiji Thaker has used stem branches of cumin (Cuminum cyminum) for destruction of dharo weed. In the summer season, around the area of field or farm, where problem of dharo are more, the stem branches of cumin (Cuminum cyminum) are spread on land. When there is rain during the monsoon season, water passes through branches and penetrate the soil, this cumin (Cuminum cyminum) branches affected water results to burnt dharo roots with knots in the soil. Hence it is permanently destroyed. There is no proper growth of other crops, where the branches are spread on that field. During next year crops can be grown after branches are fully and properly cotton on that area of land. This method gives easy way to remove dharo weed from the field. (This method is rechecked in June 2) by Nitinbhai Rathod. Previously Saraswati rivers was flowing from this area. Hence, there was more problem of dharo weed. But now, as there is no water in river, there is so much problem of dharo. In addition to this, increased uses of tractor and other machinery has reduced the growth of dharo weed. Rats are also playing important role, as they cut roots of dharo while preparing hole in the soil due to all these reasons, the above mentioned method is stopped by many farmers. |

PAS_1 | "In this study, chemical compositions of essential oil extracted from Cuminumcyminum L., Menthalongifolia L. and Allium sativum L. were analysed using GC and GC-MS methods. The herbicidal effects of the essential oils on seed germination, root and shoot growth of Rumexcrispus L. and Convolvulus arvensis L. were investigated. Meanwhile their effects regarding the mycelial development in Verticilium dahlia Kleb. and FusariumoxysporumSchl. were also evaluated. Only the highest three concentrations; 10, 15, 20 μg/cm² of A. sativum L. were 100% inhibited the seed germination, root and shoot growth of R. crispus L.; C. cyminum L. and M. longifolia L were affected at a rate of 100% by the four concentrations. All the three essential oils showed significant effect (100%) in the parameters examined against C. arvensis L. The essential oils obtained from C. cyminum L., M. longifolia L. and A. sativum L. were found to be 100% effective on V. dahlia Kleb. mycelium growth in all concentrations examined. However, C. cyminum L. and M. longifolia L. essential oils were found to be 30.0-36.6% effective at the concentration of 5 μg/cm² on mycelium development of F. oxysporumSchl.; and the other 3 concentrations totally inhibited the growth of the fungi."
