Details of Innovation For the cultivation of kharif paddy (Oryza sativa) the seeds are sown in the nursery at the end of May or in the beginning of June to prepare the seedlings. After 25-30 days of sowing, the seedling attains 4-5 leaves, it means that they are ready for the transplantation into the field. Care should be taken while uprooting the seedlings from the nursery before transplanting into the field and their roots should not be broken. Little irrigation to the field crop is partially helpful to overcome this problem. As the roots are affected, problem of seed setting arises in the field. To get rid of this problem, use stalks of pearl millet crop (Pennisetum typhoides) and shells of castor (Ricinus Communis). First plough the area of field nursery for developing paddy seedlings. Add the stalks of pearl millet (Pennisetum typhoides) and shells of castor (Ricinus Communis) in the soil and replough the area. Nursery bed is then prepared and the paddy seeds are now sown. No breaking of roots is observed, while uprooting the seedlings from the bed. Use of stalks of pearl millet (Pennisetum typhoides) and shells of castor (Ricinus Communis) makes the soil rich and friable.
