| Details of Innovation | Amabarambhai Tudshibhai Sanghani of Hadvad taluka of Surendranagar district tells that his elders (grandfather) had informed that touching seeds with salt water improves their growth by 100%. He thought that adding salt in the manure (fertilizer) would also have some effect. Accordingly, he experimented with the addition of salt in the manure. In approximately 10 carts of natural manure (fertilizer) 20 to 25 kilo salt is added and mixed properly. This is then added to the soil in the months of March- April. If possible the manure is filled in the lanes, as a result of which there is increase in the production of crops in monsoon. The farmer informs that in this way the manure in which salt is added can be used for all crops. Ambarambhai has taken about 10 mann (1 mann = 20 kilo) of production of cotton from one vigha of land by adding salt to the natural manure. His second observation was that pest attack is less in the crops that are grown by adding manure that has salt in it. There is no side-effect to the crops. Salt, natural manure (fertilizer). |
