Details of Innovation | Girdharbhai Babubhai Patel staying in Mota Isanpur village of Gandhinagar Taluka in the Gandhinagar district of Gujarat suggests the use of leaves of naro or Ipomea aquatica to protect mirchi or Capsicum annum from kokadwa. The plants of mirchi or Capsicum annum affected by kokadwa turn black and their leaves at the top fall off. This disease is also known as kunjaro. Girdharbhai Babubhai collects green leaves of naro or Ipomea aquatica and boils them in water till the quantity is reduced to about two litres. He adds 10 litres of plain water to this solution and sprinkles it on the mirchi crop. This remedy shows results within four days. He had tried this traditional remedy five years back and controlled the disease by 100 per cent. |
