Details of Innovation Leaf curl in chilli (Capsicum annuum) is a viral disease transmitted by sucking insects. The disease causes curling symptoms to the leaves of chilli plant, which finally affects the photosynthesis activity and reduces the crop yield. To control this disease, the vectors transmitting this disease need to be controlled, especially, whitefly in chilli. For its control, virgin tobacco (Nicotiana tobacum) folds are crushed into powder. In 1.5 kg tobacco powder, 25 L water and 5 L sour (old) buttermilk are mixed and stirred well. This mixture is sprayed on chilli crop in the morning hours at an interval of 6 days each. The spray schedule begins with the infection of the disease. In alternation to this practice, instead of tobacco, 10 - 12 plants of holy basil (Ocimum sanctum) are planted in the field/farm at different distances. This is self-developed practice. The treatment being effective, is used by 25% of the people in the village.
