Details of Innovation The crop of finger millet (Eleusine coracana) and Indian millet (Panicum miliaceum) starts yellowing from two months after the date of sowing. It is then infested by stem borer insect, which damages the crop by boring into the heart portion of stem, leading to the yellowing of crop. The pest spreads all over the crop within a short period. The infestation can be visualised from a distance due to the yellowing of the leaves. The grains remain empty and chaffed, reducing the total yield. To control this disease, 500 g bark of "koda" and 500 g bark of mahua (Madhuca indica) are pounded together. Add two liters of water to the mixture and boil it. When cooled, the solution is filtered and mixed with 10 L of water. Spray the mixture on the infested crop. This cures yellowing just by one or two sprays. The practice is traditional.
