Details of Innovation | Wheat (Triticum aestivum) grains are soaked in water for 24 hr and spread over rows of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) and cotton (Gossypium hirsutum)in the field to control white grub. White grub is an insect pest, which damages the underground portion of crop plants. It is believed that soaked grains of wheat are poisonous, which kill white grub. The extent of the damage to crops due to white grub is 30 to 40%. This is a traditional practice that controls 40 to 50% of white grub in the field crop. |
