Details of Innovation Weeds are unwanted plants, which grow beside the desired crops in the field. This leads to retardation in the growth of the desired crops and subsequently loss of production. To avoid the nuisance of weeds, Pithabhai Chawda takes 25-kilogram sawdust and spreads it over 2.5 acres. This sawdust distribution effectively prevents the growth of weeds near the crops. Pithabhai learned of this technique from his elders. Virajibhai Doriya of Vavadi village in Amreli district has also adopted the practice.
