Details of Innovation	Chitharbhai Bachubhai from Bhavnagar district of Gujarat uses castor (Ricinus communis) oil and castor oil-cake for increasing quality and yield in banana (Musa paradisiaca) crop. For this purpose, when the banana plant is ten months old, i.e., when small bananas start developing, he puts castor oil in the irrigation channel, little by little, at the time of watering. This ensures him better yield and better quality of banana produce and protects the plant from diseases. In addition, he also puts 100 g castor oil cake around each banana plant.
