Details of Innovation	Many a times rottong is sobserved in the crop of bottle gourd, leading to a reduction in the yield of the crop. Initially, the rotting is restricted and later on, it spreads to the entire crop. To control this rotting, a small cut is made to the stem of the bottle gourd plant and then a small amount of hing (Ferula foetida) is applied to it. The cut is then tied by a cloth. This practice helps to control rotting. Rotting is observed more in case of summer crop of bottle gourd. The cut is made 2 inch above the ground level in the stem of the plant. 100 per cent control is achieved by following this practice with no side-effects. This is a traditional practice followed by 75 per cent of the villagers.
