| Details of Innovation | While cucumber (Cucumis sativus) vines are able to resist several insect pests, the crop often experiences mysterious wilt diseases. One traditional method to prevent wilting due to disease outbreak is to spread heaps of burning horse dung in the field. Smoke from the heaps is made to reach every single vine in the field. Parekh has found that the method controls diseases well and he has always been getting a very good yield from the crop after the vines are thus smoked. |
