| Ingredients | termite hill clay, ash, cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) seeds and water |
| Details of Innovation | Dharmsinhbhai Sarola is a farmer staying at Zinzuda village of Chotila taluka in Surendranagar district of Gujarat. He suggests the use of termite hill clay, ash and water for removing fur from cotton seeds so they germinate faster. If cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) seeds are planted with their hairy surface intact, they take two days longer to sprout. So, the farmer mixes 200 gram termite hill clay, 100 gram ash and one kilogram of cotton seeds. He adds water to this mixture and coats the cotton seeds to be planted with it. He lets this seeds dry and then sows them carefully. According to the farmer, this ensures faster germination of the seeds. After his father, Dharamsinhbhai has been using this method for 12 years now. |
