| Details of Innovation | Mokubben Koli is a lady farmer residing in Kalasar village of Chotila taluka in the Surendranagar district of Gujarat. She suggests the use of chili or Capsicum annum for grain storage. Mokubben Koli mix about 200 grams of dried chili or Capsicum annum with every 20 kilogrammes of grain to be stored. This method protects the grain from rotting and worms for up to two years. The chili or Capsicum annum kept with grain do not spoil because of their hot composition but they sag by the end and cannot be used again for the same purpose. She learnt this technique from her forefathers and has used it for several years. |
