| Details of Innovation | Normally, the disease called "mardi" is seen more in amba or mango (Mangifera indica) than in other fruit crops. The disease breaks out in other fruit crops also, but it is seen in the mango crop before it starts flowering. Once it sets in, it causes heavy damage to the crop. To treat the disease, Dhirubhai Patel takes 250 gram of neem (Azadirachta indica) leaves, slashes them into small pieces and adds 5 litre water. The solution is boiled. Then, powder the seeds of 100 gram of black cumin (Nigella sativa), 50 gram kariyatu (Swertia chirata) and 10 gram papaya (Carica papaya) and add the mixture to boiling water. This solution is filtered. One litre of this solution is mixed with 5 litre water and sprayed on the crop. This controls "mardi" disease which hits fruit crops before the flowering season. This is a traditional method. |
