Jasmat Surani narrates his favourite Bhadali sentences on Holi:
"Holi din no Karo Vichar
Shubh Ashubh Fal no Thay Tag
Jo Pachhim no Vayu Vay, Samay Saro Khevay
Jo Purv no Vay to, Kaink Bhino Kaink Koro
Jo Dakshin no Vay to Na Upaje Dhan
Jo Uttar no Vay to Pruthvi par bahu pani thay...."
This means that if you are observant on the day of Holi, you can predict the weather pattern for the whole year:
If the wind blows from the West, there will be a good monsoon; if it blows from the East, it will rain only at some places and other places will remain dry. If it blows from the South, there will be no crop production at all; if it blows from the North, there will be excessive rain.
Jasmatbhai monitors these parameters over a period of 95 days and make his predictions. According to Bhadali, rain depends on certain parameters observed 95 days before that particular day. Hence, he observes these phenomena from Kartik Purnima to Fagun Purnima - this is known as the Garbh formation period. Once he gets his desired parameters he makes his prediction. |
