The device developed by Eldose K Markose can measure the depth of water in borewells. A proboscis connected to a 50m. long graduated insulated wire is fixed onto a wheel. The wheel is connected to a stand and can rotate on the axil. One end of the wheel is connected to the commit consisting of pcbs, ic, battery, transistors, resistors etc. and is fixed as a whole on the centre of the wheel. The wire with the probe is to be inserted into the borewell. When the tip of the probe touches the water, the LED glows and a beep is heard. The depth can be measured from the graduated wire. This water-level indicator can be used in big tanks ie.public tanks, dams, as well as in homes to ensure that electricity losses can be reduced. The indicator works basically by using a conventional floating ball-based switch linked to an electric circuit-breaker; this in turn s connected to a bell. As soon as the tank is filled the alarm starts ringing. |
