Ponnusamy has invented a relay switch for overcoming fluctuations in electricity load and automatically stops when there is no water in the well. The innovation will prevent damage to the motor which occurs when there is power fluctuation or when there is an empty tank. This is a common problem, but without any recognized remedy. He owns 2 acres of garden land; the land is adjacent to the forest area and succeptible to attack by wild animals. In order to overcome the menace of wild animals, he has made electric fencing by using AC electricity from the pump set and releasing a voltage of 200V by using a mini transformer. For designing this whole transformer he spent only Rs1000; the conventional method requires Rs.15,000 to erect an electric fencing using a battery system. Normally the voltage is sufficient to give a shock to humans or animals without causing fatal injury. Many times farmers approached him on the failure of their pump set motors. He found that whenever the electricity load would not match the motor coil, the pump set would not work. Therefore, while rewinding the motor with the coil, the load and capacity has to be critically observed. Based on this principle, he has rectified the defect, which many mechanics could not understand. Sometimes the electricity supply is not uniform and when the voltage falls from 440V to 350V, the motor will stop at once. He has designed the coil system in a manner that increases voltage from 350V to 440V, which ensures smooth running of the motor. Whenever the water in the well is fully exhausted and the motor continues to run, the life-span of the pumpset is shortened, leading to the need for frequent repairs. He has used the relay switch to stop the supply of electricity when there is no water in the well. Therefore, the relay switch will help farmers get involved in other operations without bothering with the level of water in the well. |
