Usually manual labour is engaged for paddy winnowing operation using the advantage of naturally blowing wind performs all the winnowing operations. Sometime the wind is not good and therefore winnowing operation are delayed. Nowadays, in Tamil Nadu the Govt. procurement system (largest single procurement system with Minimum support price) insists on clean paddy and there is need for quick method of winnowing . The innovator Shri. Ganesh has designed this machine by spending Rs. 5,000/- within 15 days. He is now getting orders from many farmers.
Description of Innovation
It is operated by 1HP motor. It can be operated manually when there is no power hearth the threshing floor. This winnower is used to clean the dusts immature paddy chaffy materials etc., The equipment is about 4 long and 2 breadth and 4 heights. It is fully made up of wooden rafter. The hopper size is 1.1/2 x 1, which has the capacity of 70 kg bag. The hopper has 2 downward inclination of 45 degree C. The air-producing fan is made up of 5 wooden rafter wings. There is a iron mesh fixed at an angle of 50 degree under the hopper. The 1 hp motor fitted is in the right side of the equipment. There is a handle in the left side. There is a separate opening for dust and chaffy grains to come out. The cleaned paddy seeds are collected in the front side.
Advantages:
* By this winnower 30 bags (70 kilo per bag) of paddy can be cleaned in one hour by engaging 3 laborers. Conventional cleaning needs 5 hours to 6 hours for the same quantity of 30 bags of paddy.
* Paddy grains are cleaned perfectly (dust, chaffy grains, half grains separated separately).
* It can also be operated through a handle manually when there is no power or motor facilities.
II. Tractor-Drawn Puddler Developed by Sri. Ganesh
Sri. Ganesh has designed tractor-drawn puddler for levelling the wetland. Generally tractor ploughing is performed in wetland ; after this operation, bullock drawn puddler will be used for levelling the fields . Now a days due to shortage of bullocks pairs, the importance of tractor operated puddler has been felt as practical.
Description of Innovation:
The puddler is mounted with the cultivation links of the tractor. This tractor mounted puddling operations is carried out during the last ploughing. The puddler has 11x2 frame with thin blades. During the puddling operation the thin blades get overloaded with mud and get tilted or broken. To avoid this the innovator aimed to split the long puddler in 2 parts.
Advantages:
By using this puddler the cost is saved; bullock drawn operation requires Rs. 450 per acre where as tractor drawn puddler require only Rs.300 /- only. |
