| Disease Symptoms / Clinical Signs |
Gradual congestion of skin of udder. Udder becomes grately distended, swollen and filled with fluid. Udder skin becomes thick. |
| Disease Description |
Udder edema is generally a periparturient disorder characterized by excessive accumulation of fluids in the intercellular tissue spaces of the mammary gland. Incidence and severity are greater in pregnant heifers than in cows (Erb and Grohn, 1988). Udder edema can be a major discomfort to the buffalo and cow and causes management problems such as diffi culty with milking, increased risk for teat and udder injuries, and mastitis, and may also reduce milk production. |

| Procedure of Use |
Udder injury is a cause of inflammation in udder and teats. The tissues of affected udder gradually becomes hard and hot. Instead of milk, sometimes watery clots and pus is discharged from the affected udder. This all leads to reduction in milk yield to an extent of about 30%.
To treat the udder inflamation, bark or roots of chaste tree (Vitex negundo), and morvel (Schrebera swietenioides) tree are pounded to extract. Make the total volume of about 100 g by adding some water to it. The injury is treated with this solution twice in a day for subsiquent four days, which cures inflammation of udder in animal.
(According to Dr. Jayveer Anjariya, udder inflammation is contagious bacterial disease which affects milk yield, so immediately medical treatment is needed to be done.) |
