Procedure of Use The Tamil Version of Honey Bee documented a treatment to cure cattle suffering a loss of appetite. The treatment is also effective in rejuventating anaemic cattle.
In this remedy, the plant pirandi (Cissus quadrangularis), salt, tamarind pods, and green chillies are crushed together and the mixture tied in a cloth. This mixture in the cloth is then tied over the tongue of the cattle for two hours. This sensitises the tongue and improves the animal's appetite.
