Chamanabhai Kesaribhai Chauhan of the Banaskantha district in Gujarat applies sugar crystals to help in attracting worms out from the wounds of animals. Sometimes worms are found in wounds of the animals. Blood and pus comes out of the wound. Irritation may also occur and it is quite painful to the animal.

According to Chauhan application of sugar crystals helps the worms come out. He then removes the worms and cleans the wound. He cuts the bark of baval or babul tree (Acacia nilotica) into pieces and boils in water. The decoction is allowed to cool and then poured on the wound. A spun of cotton lint dipped in castor (Ricinus communis) seed oil is put on the wound. This treatment is repeated for five to seven days for complete healing of the wound.

Tannin present in the bark of babul tree, probably helps in healing the wounds. According to Dr.Jayvir Anjaria, castor oil has emolient, antiseptic and soothing properties and helps in effective healing. |
