| Procedure of Use |
Farmers of Tamil Nadu make use of Tamarind (Tamarindus indica)</b> seeds to increase milk yield in animals. They heat tamarind seeds in an oven and then pound them gently so as to remove the outercoat. The dehusked seeds are then soaked in water overnight. The soaked seeds are fed to cattle, in the proportion of one or two kilogrammes per day, as a high energy food. This also induces increased milk secretion in dairy animals. |
