The farmers belonging to the Thiruverambur village of the Trichy district in Tamil Nadu prepare a special mixture to heal wounds in animals. They mix two litres of thornapple (Datura metel) leaf extract with 100 grams of Copper sulphate. Then add one litre of coconut oil to it and stir. Boil this mixture in a mud pot. The mixture has to be boiled till all the moisture evaporates completely.

Insert a stick in the mixture and then hold it over fire, if it burns properly then the mixture is ready. Apply this mixture to wounds. It can be stored in a bottle and kept for two to three years. This liquid preparation also has pest-repellent properties and prevents worm infestation in the treated wounds. |
