| Disease Description |
Udder edema is generally a periparturient disorder characterized by excessive accumulation of fluids in the intercellular tissue spaces of the mammary gland. Incidence and severity are greater in pregnant heifers than in cows (Erb and Grohn, 1988). Udder edema can be a major discomfort to the buffalo and cow and causes management problems such as diffi culty with milking, increased risk for teat and udder injuries, and mastitis, and may also reduce milk production. |

| Procedure of Use |
When the udder of animal are swollen, use congress grass (Parthenium hysterophores), which is crushed and grinded in the paste form. The paste is applied on the swollen udder portion of the animal. In two to three days, the animal is cured from the problem. In off season, when the congress is not available, 500 g of termitoria mud is mixed with 500 ml of water and heat the mixture. The heated mixture is applied on the swollen portion of the animal. Thus, animal is cured from the problem. |
