| Disease Description |
Rabies is a zoonotic disease that is caused by a virus and characterized by acute encephalitis in warm blooded animal. Mostly occurs in dogs without rabies vaccination.The disease infects domestic and wild animals, and is spread to people through close contact with infected saliva via bites or scratches. Dogs are source of 99% of human rabies cases. Once symptoms of the disease develop, rabies is nearly always fatal. Louis pasteur is the first person to diagnose rabies and found vaccine against rabies. |

Cost effective approach is the elimination of stray dogs and ownerless dogs combined with mass immunization at least 80% of the area. Restrain entry of rabied dog in public places. Immediate destruction of dog/cat bitten by rabid animals. Oral vaccination. |
