PAS_1 Significant increase in skin breaking strength, granuloma breaking strength, wound contraction, hydroxyl proline content and dry granuloma weight and decreased in epithelization period was observed. A supportive study made on granuloma tissue to estimate the levels of catalase and superoxide-dismutase recorded a significant increase in the level of these antioxidant enzymes. Granuloma tissue was subjected to histopathological examination to determine the pattern of lay-down for collagen using Van Gieson and Masson Trichome strains. Enhanced wound healing activity may be due to free radical scavenging action of the plant and the enhanced level of antioxidant enzymes in granuloma tissue. Precautions
Procedure of Use Use of sage-leaved alangium (Alangium salvifolium) leaves and butter for healing yoke gall in animal. Young bullock engaged for farming and load-bearing work for the first time are more susceptible to yoke gall. This also occurs in over-worked or over-loaded animal. When the animal sustains yoke gall, its shoulder gets swelled, bruised and hardened. For healing the yoke gall, farmer Shamjibhai Savjibhai from Bhavnagar district of Gujarat extracts juice from 100 g sage-leaved Alangium (Alangium salvifolium) leaves and mixes 100 g butter in the juice to prepare an ointment which he applies on yoke gall twice daily for 2 - 3 days. This cures yoke gall.
