PAS_1 Luffa echinata Home Remedies: Liver disorder (https://www.easyayurveda.com/2017/10/08/bitter-sponge-luffa-echinata-home-remedies/)
PAS_2 Hepatoprotective activity of Luffa echinata fruitsThe different extracts of the fruits of Luffa echinata Roxb.(Cucurbitaceae) were tested for their hepatoprotective activityagainst CCl(4) induced hepatotoxicity in albino rats. The degree ofprotection was measured by using biochemical parameters likeserum glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (SGOT), serum glutamicpyruvate transaminase (SGPT), alkaline phosphatase (ALKP), totalprotein (TP) and total albumin (TA). The petroleum ether, acetoneand methanolic extracts showed a significant hepatoprotectiveactivity comparable with those of Silymarin. Precautions
Procedure of Use If the animal ingests foreign body such as iron wire and nail along with the fodder, the thing may remain lodged in the stomach and may give pain to the animal. If the animal encounters this problem, female farmer Rukhiben Patel of Ahmedabad district of Gujarat soaks 1 kg turmeric (Curcuma longa) powder and a whole plant of "kukadvel" (Luffa echinata) in water. She then heats the mixture and adminsters the resultant decoction to the animal two times in a day. This dislodges the foreign body which is purged out with the faeces.
Etiology Causative Agent
Global Context Cattle eat quickly, without sorting their feed. They often ingest foreign material, especially when eating hay or processed feed that may contain bits of wire or metal.
