Antimicrobial activity of Celosia argentea L. in the Hyderabad Karnataka region
The C. argentea has great medicinal value, used in the treatment of fatigue, leucorrhoea, atherosclerosis and osteoporosis and the seeds have been used for reducing the “liver heat”, improving the eye sight, clearing wind heat and as an anti- inflammatory agent.

"Bloat in a head of cattle leads to bulging of the para-lumbar fossa and gives out a tympanic sound on auscultation of the fossa. In such a condition the animal becomes anorectic and restless and bellows frequently. To treat the condition, Ishwarbhai Patel burns the dry wood of cockscomb (Celosia argentea) collects 100 gram of the ashes and dilutes these in water. This solution is drenched to the animal using a tubular vessel. The treatment cures the head of cattle of bloat within 12 hours.Cockscomb grows in sandy soils where the weather is hot and humid up to a height of about five to six ft." |
