"Bloat in a head of cattle leads to anorexia, bulging of belly and bellowing by the animal. To treat the condition, Popatbhai Bhuva makes use of double-milk cure. He mixes animal and plant milk and adds a dash of cow urine for good effect. First he draws 20 millilitre milk of crown flower (Calotropis gigantean) and adds 100 millilitre urine and 100 millilitre milk of the cow to it. He then mixes the three liquids and administers the solution orally to the animal. The treble effect is immediate. The animal is cured of bloat within an hour. All the farmers in rural Ahmedabad use this traditional technique." |
