Perticulary don’t get any information on effect of Mucuna pruriens on bull fertility but get information on human. Treatment with M. pruriens significantly inhibited lipid peroxidation, elevated spermatogenesis, and improved sperm motility. Treatment also recovered the levels of total lipids, triglycerides, cholesterol, phospholipids, and vitamin A, C, and E and corrected fructose in seminal plasma of infertile men. | Precautions |
"Monitor bull body condition and ensure in good condition prior to mating period. Check for lameness and need for foot trimming around 2 months prior to breeding period." |
| Procedure of Use |
"In order to treat sterility in animals, about 200 to 500 gram seeds of cowhage (Mucuna pruriens) should be boiled and unskinned and crushed to powder. The powder should be fed to the animal twice a day for one week. This gives results in a few days and the animal comes to heat. Many farmers in Mandali village in Banaskantha district have been using this practice for a long time. (According to Dr. Anjariya, the use of seeds of cowhage (Mucuna pruriens) has proven to be useful for the oxen. However, no scientific information is available for its use for cows and buffalos.)" |
