Bambusa arundinacea (Bamboo, family Poaceae), commonly known as bamboo, causes decrease inflammation thereby helping in fracture healing. It has benzoic acid, traces of cyanogenic glycoside, and silicon substances which help in fracture healing. It also has calcium phosphorus and zinc. Oral or topical application of paste of stem or leaves is used in fracture healing. Singh, V., 2017. Medicinal plants and bone healing. National journal of maxillofacial surgery, 8(1), p.4.. |

| Disease Description |
Accidents happen. Sometimes a cow steps on her calf, breaking its leg, or a limb fractures due to extensive or improper pressure applied during a difficult calving. Bone fractures occur in cattle of all ages, but they are most common in those <1 yr old. Corrective procedures may be justified economically in this age group, provided that joints are not involved. External fixation techniques or Thomas splints have been used successfully. In selected cases, percutaneous transfixation or internal fixation may be attempted.(https://www.msdvetmanual.com/musculoskeletal-system/lameness-in-cattle/fractures-in-cattle (dated: 8/4/2020)) |

If the animal has a fractured bone it would limp and that part would show a bend. Unable to move, the animal will keep sitting. It would stop eating and drinking and that portion would show reddish inflammation. Use wild sand from termite for the treatment. It is granular soil dug out by termites from the earth. First adjust the two bones and then apply the wild sand from termite. Use hollow bamboo pieces of approximately one foot each and tie them tightly around the inflamed part using long cloth bandage. Keep the animal away from other animals and give it rest so that recover soon. He got this idea, seeing calf being treated at his maternal unclesplace. |
