Disease Symptoms / Clinical Signs
Disease Description Retained placenta (RP) is also known as retained foetal membrane or retained cleansing. RP occurs when the calf’s side of the placenta (the fetal membranes) fails to separate from the mother’s side. Separation of the membranes normally occurs after the calf is born (early separation is one cause of stillbirth). RP is usually defined as the failure to expel fetal membranes within 24 hr after parturition. https://www.thecattlesite.com/diseaseinfo/232/retained-placenta/

Precautions
Procedure of Use After parturition, if the animal is not able to expel the placenta in time or if the retention is prolonged, it may cause an adverse effect on the health of the animal and it becomes edgy, restless. In case of retention of placenta, use 20 to 30 leaves of rivea (Rivea hypocrateriformis), 15 thorns of ber (Zizyphus jujuba), 100 gram dill seeds (Anethum graveolens) and 400 gram jaggery these are mixed together and boiled in water. This mixture is drenched to the affected animal for five days in the morning and evening. The animal gets relief soon. It is a traditional practice learnt from forefathers.
