Disease Symptoms / Clinical Signs
Disease Description "The general rule of thumb (for a cow in good body condition, BCS = 5 or greater) is to increase the energy density of the ration by 1% for each degree (Fahrenheit) below the lower critical temperature." (https://www.drovers.com/article/cold-stress-what-cold-cow)

Precautions
Procedure of Use In cold months, when the animal is exposed to cold breeze, or when its exertion level is high, it is prone to infection, which is responsible for cough. Due to the problem, the animal oozes phlegm from its nostrils and shows signs of heavy breathing. The animal also keeps its head downward. To treat this condition, bulbs of onion (Allium cepa) are boiled and its extract is obtained. In this extract, seeds of carom (Trachyspermum ammi) are added and drenched to the affected animal for a week. Thus, the animal is cured of the cold problem. There is no side effect of this treatment. It is a traditional practice."
