BVD is a common cause of respiratory and reproductive issues in the herd. It is a economically important disease in many countries, and problems realted to the disease are thought to be increasing in some areas. Although a disease in itself, BVD causes a number of transient infections which are often the cause of animal health and economic problems.

"Animal suffering from diarrhoea evacuates foul smelling and watery faeces. It gets weaker by the day, its feed intake reduces and it experiences restlessness. Vejanandbhai Kamadia of village Sheel, district Junagadh of Gujarat gives orally the mixture of 200 ml leaf extract of 300 g rivea (Rivea hypocrateriformis) leaves and 200 ml groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) oil to the animal suffering from diarrhoea. He learnt this method from his father." |
