Disease Symptoms / Clinical Signs
Disease Description Diverse groups of ectoparasitic arthropods cause significant morbidity and mortality in most of the approximately 1.49 billion head of cattle worldwide. Hematophagous ectoparasites (ie, blood-feeding flies, myiasis-causing flies, lice, mites, ticks) are the most important in cattle. Precautions
Procedure of Use Ectoparasites like lice, "itardi" infest animals like cow, buffalo, and bullocks. As they suck blood from animals body, it slowly becomes weaker. As a remedy, pure and fresh ground nut (Arachis hypogaea) oil is heated slightly and this heated oil is masaged/applied on infested part of the animal. Massaging twice a day for three days, kills such parasites. This practice is in use for last ten years. This is a traditional practice.
