Disease Description |
Bloat is a form of indigestion marked by excessive accumulation of gas in the rumen. Immediately after cattle consume a meal, the digestive process creates gases in the rumen. Most of the gases are eliminated by eructation (belching). Any interruption of this normal gas elimination results in gas accumulation or bloat.

Procedure of Use |
When an animal suffers bloat by consuming rotten grass or some disagreeble stuff or due to any other reason, its abdomen is distended and its belly sounds like a drum on tapping. The animal shuns feed intake and has difficulty in the standing posture. To treat the condition, Dudhiben Gohil uses false black pepper (Embelia tsjeriam-cottam), 50 gram, "bitalaban" 25 gram and salt 25 gram. These are crushed together and half-litre water is mixed and drenched to the animal with the help of a drench-pipe. This results in virtual diarrhoea till bloat is completely cured. All this happens within two hours of the medication. There is no side-effect to this medicine. This is a traditional practice. |
