Disease Description |
Retained placenta (RP) is also known as retained foetal membrane or retained cleansing. RP occurs when the calf’s side of the placenta (the fetal membranes) fails to separate from the mother’s side. Separation of the membranes normally occurs after the calf is born (early separation is one cause of stillbirth). RP is usually defined as the failure to expel fetal membranes within 24 hr after parturition.

Procedure of Use |
To treat retention of placenta or metrorrhagia, Allakhbhai Darbar has a thorny cure. He takes chinese burr (Triumfetta rotundifolia), rotten thorns of any plant and water. The cow or buffalo is drenched with a decoction prepared from 250 gram chinese burr (Triumfetta rotundifolia), 150 gram rotten thorns and water. The solution is boiled to a very high temparature to ensure a decoction of 250 millilitres. After cooling, the solution is drenched to the animal two times with the help of a drench-pipe. This gives relief to the cow or buffalo from retention of placenta or metrorrhagia. |
