Cryptolepis buchanani (Ganglong, family Asclepiadaceae) is a climbing tree widely used in folk medicine in Southeast Asia. Also its root, stem, and leaves are used for the treatment of bone fracture by tribal people in Arunachal Pradesh. It shows antibacterial, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and chondroprotective activities. To cure the problem, the fractured limb is well set and thereafter the oil of sesame (Sesamum indicum) is applied on the affected portion. In two to three months, the fracture is healed. |
