| Disease Symptoms / Clinical Signs |
Livestock often sustain sprains or dislocation of joints in their limbs. |
| Disease Description |
Veterinarians, much like producers, usually don't get excited about lameness problems since the animal usually doesn't die 'and often remains in acceptable condition but losses due to lameness. do accumulate to sizeable amounts. Some of these losses include: (1) decline in milk output, (2) decrease in body weight, (3) decrease in feed efficiency, (4) premature culling of potentially valuable cattle, :and (5) cost of treatment

| Procedure of Use |
Durbar practices a traditional method he learnt from his ancestors to heal the animals in distress. Soak whole green gram seeds (not husked) in water overnight. Grind into a fine paste, adding common salt. Smear the dislocated or sprained part with this paste and allow to dry in air for several minutes. Apply clean cotton wool and wrap with a bandage and apply bamboo splints to demobilize the joint. Keep the bandage in place till the animal is pain-free. |
