| Disease Description |
Veterinarians, much like producers, usually don't get excited about lameness problems since the animal usually doesn't die 'and often remains in acceptable condition but losses due to lameness. do accumulate to sizeable amounts. Some of these losses include: (1) decline in milk output, (2) decrease in body weight, (3) decrease in feed efficiency, (4) premature culling of potentially valuable cattle, :and (5) cost of treatment

If an animal is injured due to thorns or stones and limps as a result, Shaileshbhai Jalu has a home-made cure for it. He takes a handful of common salt in water and boils and cools the solution. When the solution is lukewarm, he washes the affected leg with it. The washing with the solution needs to be done twice a day for two to three days. This practice is successful and it gives relief to the injured animals. Shaileshbhai learnt of this technique from his elders. |
